Morning program (in Dutch)
Before the afternoon programme, a Dutch-language interactive morning session will take place from 09:30 to 12:00 at the same venue. The session focuses on the practical challenges of engaging citizens in the energy transition, explores what still doesn’t work, and how we can improve it.
If you would like to attend the morning session as well, you can indicate this in the registration form for the afternoon programme.
Break out sessions
Round 1 (60 minutes)
Generative AI for better modelling citizens' energy consumption
Traditional network capacity calculations are based on peak electricity demand, often resulting in conservative estimates. With increasing pressure on the Dutch electricity grid, a more realistic approach is needed. In this session, we will showcase our team’s newly developed AI algorithm that closely replicates real consumption patterns, based on anonymized data. We will show how network operators, like Alliander, have used our algorithms and talk about the pilot hosted by The Early Birds via the BuurtWarmteWijzer.
From technology to practice - Exploring the value of the consumer persona prediction algorithm for citizen engagement
The Consumer persona prediction algorithm developed within ALIGN4energy classifies Dutch addresses into four behavioral types based on open data. It provides insights in the best approach to communicate with citizens on topics related to energy transition. During this break-out we will collaboratively explore where such a technology adds value for citizen engagement professionals, identify promising applications, and discuss opportunities for further development and implementation.
From technology to practice - Exploring the value of the Energy Consumption Profile Generator for infrastructure planning
This session introduces an algorithm that creates realistic household electricity consumption profiles. Together, we will explore where such a technology could add value for municipalities, network operators and other stakeholders, identify promising applications, and discuss opportunities for further development and implementation.
* This session builds upon the algorithm presented in the break-out ‘Generative AI for better modelling citizens' energy consumption’
Who carries the hidden cost of renovation? - A practical diagnosis of delayed renovation decisions
This session introduces non-monetary, so-called “hidden costs” in renovation projects by social housing associations through two specific examples: the adoption of carbon-free technologies and tenant inclusion. Together, we will explore the hidden costs behind stalled renovation decisions, stakeholder collaboration and communication, and the regulatory environment, and discuss opportunities and potential solutions for improvement.
